Instant inspiration 2

August 24th, 2008

This weeks quote is from Stephen R Covey.

“If you don’t know where you are going you will never get there. Start your business with the end in mind.”

I take inspiration from these words by Stephen Covey. Have an exit strategy from the start and create a plan to achieve it. Julie and I have just finished photographing our last scheduled Saturday wedding. This has long been our plan to coincide with our daughter Francesca going to secondary school. We decided we would want to be at home at weekends to share the family time and keep an eye on her ;-) We have shot 350 weddings over 10 years and this has been a fulfilling journey that has exceeded our expectations . It was part of the plan and I have Stephen Covey to thank for instilling in me the need for that plan. Every project I undertake has an end game strategy. They don’t all succeed but the majority do.

Stephen Covey has long been an inspiration to me and his book, ‘The seven habits of highly effective people’ is a masterwork.

Props add interest, a central placement of the subject creates tension and the high viewpoint counteracts the tension in a way like sweet and sour tastes work in harmony.

The props certainly add interest, while a central placement of the model creates a tension that is counteracted by the high viewpoint of the camera.

    Hi Damien and Julie,

If you like Stephen Covey, have a look at Robin Sharma. Absolutely fantastic, sounds like they are from the same school of thought.

    Matt.

Thanks Matt. Here’s the link to Robin’s excellent blog. Looks like I’m going clothes shopping this weekend :)
