Strictly Lovegrove ~ pictures & update

May 8th, 2009

The Strictly Lovegrove project continues to gather pace. I’ve been scouting my local vicinity for venues and locations that can sustain the project throughout all the seasons. At the moment I reliant on unheated spaces and with minimal clothes on my clients it is restricting me to shooting on good weather days between May and September. Here are a few pictures from a shoot earlier this week.

A field of Rape and a blast of flash set the mood of the first picture of the day. I used two heads from my 2 Broncolor Mobil heads

A field of Rape and a blast of flash set the mood of the first picture of the day. I used two flash heads connected to my Broncolor Mobil power pack to provide visual impact.

I played around with a few gels on my flash heads to liven up the shots.

I shot a few dancing pictures for good measure

I shot a few dancing pictures for good measure.I used a Bowens Wafer softbox on my Mobil head as a key light and a bare bulb Mobil with a blue gel as a background light.

I then wanted to shoot some more intimate frames.

I then wanted to shoot some more intimate frames. My direction for these shoots is always album based. To make an album work well I like to mix wide shots and close ups.

Marko has worked on this frame in Lightroom and Photoshop to create the HDR look.

My favourite shot of the day is this low key intimate frame. Again it is lit with a Mobil head used as an upstage key light.

My favourite shot of the day is this low key intimate frame. It is lit with a single Mobil head used as an upstage key light. This is going to go big - 40" x 30" would suit it well.

    Damien,

    Thank you for -

    - a terrific BLOG

    - all the DVDs

    - the book

    put another way -

    - a lifetime’s experience at a “give away” price.

I have studied them all, learnt a lot and learn more each time I re-view them.

    Looking forward to 22nd June.

    Best wishes,

    John

    Hi Richie,

I used a Mobil head from about 15ft to the left of the couple and one about 15ft to the right of the couple. Some people call this lighting style ‘butterfly lighting’. I needed one flash extension lead to enable both heads to use the same Mobil pack. I used a 70% – 30% ratio for the flash power.

    I hope this helps, Damien.

    Hi Ole,

My faves too. I use a clear plastic food bag over my flash heads or Speedlights when it is raining and the Bron pack has it’s own waterproof jacket.

    It’s only water :)

    Damien.
