Hi Martin,

I don’t run workshops in the London area. I used to but it’s not easy teaching on the street in London anymore. My studio is 2 hours by train from Paddington, so it’s not too far My next talk in London is at the SWPP convention at the Novotel in Hammersmith 13th, 14th and 15th January. Same talk delivered three times

Having seen your lovecube, i’ve brought one to use on a few shoots, but not being a huge speedlight user – any tips for settings?

Hi Bridie,

Thanks. Colour gels can certainly bring a shot to life. The trick is getting the gel hue and the flash power combination just right. The normal vivid gels used by pub bands etc are not subtle enough for my liking.

Hi Terrence, Thanks for the compliments. I’ve posted shots of my studio before but next time I’m blogging studio shots I’ll post some more No US trip on the cards at the moment but you never know, It looks like Asia is off so I may cross the Atlantic instead.

I understand how you get the background coloured, but how did you manage to get the green colour on the floor as well?? Are you using multiple gelled lights??

Got your gel set now… just need to find time to have a play…

Awesome shots! Love the look of those shot with the ringflash.. bought one of the Coco Ringflash adapters to attempt to try and recreate something similar (on a budget)
