Damien Lovegrove ~ the 2010 pictures
January 24th, 2011
I have uploaded a selection of my 2010 pictures in a gallery. This has become customary for me now in January of each year. I’ve included my EXIF data to make your journey through my shots more interesting. All the pictures were taken in 2010 between March and December. Choosing is always tough and I never seem to know which images I should select, so please forgive me if I’ve missed out your favourites. I could have just shown shots of the fabulous Chloe Jasmine Whichello and dedicated the year to her such was her impact on my evolving style. There were of course many other wonderful people that I had the pleasure of photographing too. This collection is for everyone.
Enjoy.

I think this collection really comes to life because of the work with Chloe.
My 1, 2, 3 are number 81 first then 65 and 42.
There’s so much personality teasing to brim out from behind that eye contact!

A wonderful collection of work Damien, all your models are beautiful, but it has to be said that Chloe radiates gorgeousness, and yes I know thats not a real word but for me it describes her perfectly.
A big thankyou for sharing.

Fascinating to follow your gradual change of styles.
Having just revisited Monty Zucker’s portrait DVD I think you must have deviated from his style in many ways. Does this make either style wrong or outmoded? – of course not they’re just different.
Keep up the good work & excellent models.

Thanks Fergus,
I’ve not seen any of Monty Zucker’s work so I can’t comment on his style. It’s worth noting that I’ve not shifted styles as such, I’ve shot different stuff. My urban portrait style is still the same, my Speedlight style is still the same etc. I’ve just dropped weddings and added interior portraits using continuous light to the mix. In 2011 I’ll be shooting more genre’s as I travel across Europe. I’ll still use my existing looks, I’ll just add a few more
A time will soon come when dramatic Speedlight graffiti backdrop portraits will become overdone as is beginning to happen to vintage and pin up. I’m always trying to keep one step ahead and bring on new looks. I’m working on high key boudoir on location at the moment. Pictures without the ‘night’ look about them. It’s too cold to shoot my usual stuff on the street so I’m researching and shooting in the warm
Have a great season and thank you for your continued support.
Kindest regards, Damien.
Have a fabulous 2011, Damien.

Thank you David,
Chloe and I spark in a way that burns brightly in our pictures. I feel blessed to have spent so much time in her company and to have had the opportunity to capture her spirit and beauty within. A truly remarkable journey that I hope to repeat at some point in 2011. I know Chloe will appreciate your kind words too, thank you. Damien.

Some times I feel exhausted. As if I’ve given all there is to give. Then something amazing comes along and sets the bar way higher. And you know what, I seem to find the energy to take it on. That’s when the magic happens. I often feel it is not really me taking the pictures. I occasionally dream that someday that magic will have disappeared. Maybe it will, but I strive to make the best of every situation I am in.

I feel like a stalker! I love your work and can’t wait to see every picture! What is the must have lens, for close up work for a cannon 5d??
12. damien | February 26th, 2011 at 12:21 pm
Hi Helen,
The must have lens is definitely the 100mm f/2.8L macro IS It is simply superb. Razor sharp with a beautiful bokeh.
Kindest regards,
Damien.
