Studio workshop with Rohini ~ Sequences that sell
October 6th, 2012
Every now and then I come across a character asking to be set free and that’s just what we did on this studio lighting workshop. Rohini from Gingersnap model agency is utterly gorgeous and fizzing with verve. I run my one day studio lighting workshops with just three delegates for a maximum learning experience. You’ve probably seen my usual stuff in previous posts so I thought I’d show you a few sequences that make album layout design a breeze. When I’ve set up a lighting rig I want to shoot as many frames as I can that my client will want to buy.
Makeup was by our studio expert Vicki Waghorn.
Shots 2 – 10 and 22 – 37 are all lit with Lupolux Fresnel spotlights. Not a soft light in sight.
Shots 38 and 39 are lit with just one flash head and a simple reflector. Great images can be taken with minimal kit and the right know how. I bought the Bowens Prolite 500 used for these shots way back in 1994. It still sits in the back of my Elinchrom rigged studio.
If you would like to experience a studio lighting workshop with Rohini as our model please do make a request to Blaise. We have regular dates available throughout the year. You don’t need a studio to get the benefit of this workshop. I teach lifetime skills in a non complicated easy to understand way using flash and continuous lighting.
What is your favourite shot/ lighting set up?

Hi Damien,
Very nice shots. I noticed that you used for these shots two different light sources. Lupolux (LED???) and flash lights. What do you think about the color rendering index of the Lupolux (LED???) versus the color rendering index of flash lights? Is there a difference?
Best regards,
Maarten

Hi Maarten,
Thank you. Yes there is a difference. The LED lights are some way off meeting the quality of colour that the Elinchrom studio flash delivers but they are okay for portraits just not where they need to be for fashion or commercial where accurate colour is required. The Lupolux HMI lights (400, 800 and 1200) are way better but lack some of the convenience of the LEDs.
I hope this helps,
Damien.
