About
Prophotonut was started by Damien Lovegrove and Martin Plant at the end of August 2008. Martin sowed the seed of the idea in an email to Damien more than a year earlier, but it took an ‘inspiration trip’ to a bookshop in Singapore for Damien to really grasp the concept of blog publishing. With his blogging book in hand and a 16 hour flight back to the UK the plan was hatched. Two weeks later after much creative work the blog was launched on it’s own domain and opened up to readers.

Damien Lovegrove
Damien learned his trade as a cameraman and lighting director during 14 years at the BBC, working on programmes such as the Clothes Show, Top of the Pops and Casualty. Days off from filming were often spent taking photographs for a variety of top name clients including Peugeot, Motorola, and Adidas. Then Julie made an entrance in his life and he realised that photography wasn’t the only thing he was passionate about! She comes a very close second (yes, that is a joke) and anyone who has met Damien can’t fail to be inspired and motivated by his enthusiasm for his second career. So much so that once you get him started on a subject it’s hard to shut him up…
“Photography fascinates me” declares Damien. “Creating instant pictures using a technically intricate process is electrifying, and if done well the pictures can have great value too. Making pictures is something I’ve enjoyed throughout my life, and if I could paint quickly I’d probably be doing that instead. Much of my photography is inspired by a burning enthusiasm within me” explains Damien. “Picking up a camera gives me such a rush that I’m instantly driven to create pictures.”
