    Hi Damien

Congratulations – just purchased both guide to Fuji x system and portraits e-books so really looking forward to studying these and maybe tweaking my settings and approach to picture taking in this genre.

Couple of questions – firstly gear related. I have the wonderful XF 18-55 f2.8/4 OIS R and 16-55 f2.8 LM R with XF 10-24 OIS R and XF 55-200 OIS R with two Fuji XT-1 bodies. Question is it worth investing in the stellar XF 50-140 f2.8 OIS R and chopping in the XF 10-24 OIS R and XF 55-200 OIS R? Part of me feels that the 16-55 f2.8 is as wide as I shoot so maybe the wide zoom is unnecessary and coupled with this, the XF 50-140 f2.8 is large to carry around unless you need it for studio, weddings of professional shooting.

Secondly, are you likely to run any more street portraiture course in Europe in next couple of years?

Thanks Damien – always enjoy your tuition, photoshoots and portrait series Illumination! Cheers John

      Hi John,

I’m not in a position to make specific lens purchase decisions as I have no idea of your shooting style, subject matter, lighting kit etc. In the Fuji guide you will dee everything I know about each lens and you can see the lenses I think are best suited to each other. I hope you understand. As for the European street shoots – yes I’ll be in Holland, probably Amsterdam and Rotterdam, maybe even the Hague for portraits on the streets at some point between the last week of June and the middle of July. All the details will be here: http://passionphotographyexperience.com/ and you can get advanced info by signing up to our newsletter. Details in the footer.

      Kindest regards,

      Damien.

Damien, does this include lighting diagrams? Thank you Sir.

      Hi Paul,

It does include all the information about lighting placement and how to decode the shots from a lighting point of view. There is one lighting diagram because the shot used quite a few lights but the rest of the text is self explanatory. The feedback from readers so far has been amazing so I think the info delivery method is spot on. I hope this helps. Damien.

Been waiting for both of these books, Damien! Congratulations on getting them out via e-pub! I chose the cover with Mischka Scott because I like the play with shadows and light!

      Hi Nigel,

Thank you for your kind words. I’ll be looking at the options for a printed version of Portraits next year. It will be a Kickstarter project for sure.

      Kindest regards,

      Damien.
