These pictures of Madam Bink were taken on a recent test shoot by Julie using a Nikon D700 with a 24-70mm lens. They show the development of our style. Makeup was by Vicky Waghorn and the location was Stonwall Manor in Frome. (Not work safe beyond the jump)

For some time now Julie and I have been exploring the finer qualities of art photography. We have practiced our craft, processed images many different ways and we have come upon a style of shooting that simplifies the whole picture making process. Producing fine photographic prints doesn’t have to rely on effects created in Photoshop or the adding of unrelated textures. The pictures we shoot are lit to allow all the tones in the image to be printed with smooth transitions exploiting the full 16 bit workspace of Lightroom and Photoshop. The print quality that can be achieved can be outstanding if the image capture is spot on.

Julie will be shooting nudes as part of  our upcoming two day art portrait workshop on the 9th and 10th November. The workshop will take place at Kingscote House, a fabulous country house set in the heart of the Cotswolds. The vital process of preparing the images for fine art printing will also be demonstrated by Marko at the end of the day.

Julie’s Masterclass structure will be shooting interior nudes from 10.00 – 3.00 using natural light as much as possible, then editing a selection of the pictures with Marko from 3.30 to 5.30 as it will be dark by this time. This shoot and edit will be limited to just 5 delegates.

On my masterclass, I will be showing a group of 5 delegates how to shoot Boudoir, lingerie and natural art portraits using continuous lights plus various lighting modifiers. It will be dark by 4pm and from there on I will show how to create beautiful interior portraits at night on location with minimal lighting equipment. My model will be the fabulous Chloe Jasmine Whichello and makeup will be provided by Vicky Waghorn. Examples of my art portraits of Chloe Jasmine are here.

If you would like to book a place on this workshop, please click here. You can also browse our range of upcoming photography training courses here.

Please feel free to comment on the pictures. What is your experience of shooting art portraits?
