Speedlight Mastery Trailer from Damien Lovegrove on Vimeo. This video featured on the excellent Fstoppers blog yesterday and is already getting thousands of views.

All 35 chapters of this feature length HD production can now be downloaded here.  The original Speedlight Mastery DVD and BluRay contained just 23 chapters and the 12 chapters are now availiable as an HD download. The DVD format is limited to about 2.5 hours of standard definition video and we had to cut out the extra 12 chapters to squeeze the content onto the disc. Now that we can offer the all the content in a HD format as a download it can be optomised by the end user for their iPad, iPhone and android devices.

      Hi Chris,

Thank you for your kind words. My next DVD is due out mid December so there will not be too long to wait now. It is a DVD about shooting portraits in the studio or village hall or just about anywhere you can put a background up. It concentrates on lighting, posing and composition.

      Watch this space, Damien.

Now that was not what I expected! ‘Dingle’ what a great idea!

Is the DVD full of other useful tips like this? I feel a purchase coming on….

Hi Rob, the DVD is packed with the ‘not obvious’ but easy to implement ways of creating magic lighting using Speedlights. You can download it here in HD

      Thanks, Damien.

Great Video, can you ellaborate a bit more on how the f/10, 1/200s came about (was it purely from the ambient?). How did the flash power contribute to this setting?

      Hi Kent,
On the DVD I explain how my formula works and how to implement it. I use 1/200th because it is the highest flash sync speed although it is not important to use this setting with Pocket Wizards or Radio Poppers. The f/10 was chosen to set the level of the shadow detail. Again this is explained fully in the 2½ hour video production. The Speedlight was in TTL mode. I hope this helps,

      Damien.

    Ditto Sean
I met Damien at SWPP earlier this year and I asked for a lighting DVD which showed several set ups with OCF.
Within seconds he put this DVD in my hands, I thought I was wishing for something special, but he had the very thing I was after.
Brilliant DVD, great for creative ideas. I’ve watched it several items as well, due for another viewing I think!

I have watched the Full DVD many, many times and I still found myself watching the whole of this chapter. The full DVD gave me a formula that I use everytime I shoot with OCF and it works. Up til then it was very hit and miss!

      Thank you Sean,

I put 18 months of research into breaking down the complexities of off camera flash and popped it all in a DVD. I’m glad that effort gets your seal of approval and I’m proud to have done it. Your support is very much appreciated.

      Kindest regards,

      Damien.
