Last month I hit the beach. I needed to practice my craft skills and explore more opportunities for using flash. Here are a few of my test shots…

1. Chantelle at Camber Sands

2. Ray of Light Chantelle on the dunes at Camber Sands

3. Chantelle at Lydd-on-Sea

4. Chantelle at Jurys Gap

5. Chantelle On The Rocks at Jurys Gap

6. Ieva at Playa Formentor, Mallorca

7. Anitra on the rocks at Playa Formentor, Mallorca

8. Anitra on the beach at Playa Alcúdia, Mallorca
If you would like to master using flash for portraiture or would like a photography holiday creating beautiful portraits in beautiful surroundings see my adventures website here.
Lovely series!!
Thank you :)
Pictures 1 thru 6 all like with it was a cloudy day, storm heading your way?. So you went with Hi-Sync Flash/High Speed Shutter Sync to add drama, took advantage of the storm clouds. Is my guess correct?
1 through 5 was a grey day with the sun popping through at the end. Shot 6 was a storm approaching. HSS automagically kicks in if I want a shallow depth of field and have set a fast shutter speed. I work at the aperture I want.
Big fan (as you know) of your lighting control, and the ability to create timeless images over and over.
So many people are petrified of OCF, but as these show, once mastered it lifts a potentially flat images to such beautiful well crafted art.
Thank you for sharing :)
Thank you Rob once again for your lovely comments. All these shots were taken while practicing. I do find that a great deal of practice is needed to get the best shots. I’m so glad photography is my passion otherwise it would seem like hard work :))
Kindest regards,
Damien.
